Today, five students from Von Cramm Cooperative delivered a letter to President Skorton urging him to divest from fossil fuels. Their letter, written on behalf of the larger Von Cramm community and cosigned by 20 fellow residents, calls on the Cornell administration to support Resolution 32: Toward a Responsible Endowment, “We as students ask you to act out to stop this climate injustice: let us fully utilize the great education Cornell provides us in a world with a healthier future.”
Von Cramm has been an advocate for sustainability initiatives and are pursuing a geothermal heating system in their house to reduce their carbon footprint. They believe that reducing energy consumption and funding to the fossil fuel industry are both necessary for preventing climate change before it is too late. We thank the entire Von Cramm community for their courageous foresight, thoughtful words, and sincere support! Read their letter here.
